Basically Spanish Hot Chocolate

Hot chocolate & churros is a much loved Spanish breakfast and I’d happily eat it for breakfast every day of my life. Right after I’ve had coffee. It’s simple to make and when served with fresh hot churros, your Spanish Christmas will be off to a good start. In Spain hot chocolate is served in most homes throughout the day at this time of the year because it’s getting cooler. Making hot chocolate at home really isn’t difficult, even a child can make it, so there’s absolutely no need to use powdered instant chocolate. Ever.
Anyway, tins of the good drinking chocolate can be very expensive & often contain preservatives and other nasty chemicals. As long as you keep milk in the fridge and a few slabs of good dark chocolate in the larder, you’re good to go and can make a mug whenever someone arrives. For variation on the theme, a little freshly ground black pepper or a some ground red chillies will can be added for an even warmer drink. For those who need the chocolate a little sweeter, why not stir in a teaspoon of honey or dark brown sugar?
